Energy: This week was so much better than the past couple of weeks, especially the past two days. Had a bit of nausea in the afternoon but feeling almost back to my old self. Yeehaa. Was pretty productive with work and working out too. I also enrolled in a Yin Yoga teacher training in September, I feel like I’ll be completely back in action by then.
Emotions: I’ve been a lot more mentally stable this week. Only getting grumpy when I get hungry and then I can pull myself out of it – unlike the weeks before where I felt like I was sinking into something I couldn’t lift myself out of. I keep getting little pangs of excitement too as I think about Nugget growing inside my tummy, it’s becoming more and more real. The countdown is on until our first proper doctor’s appointment.
Workouts: I did a great workout Saturday morning after Luke forced me to. Thank God he’s such a motivator. Four sets of four exercises: 1) Pull ups, 2) Bulgarian split squats holding 40 pounds, 3) 20x Kettle bell swings with 24kgs 4) Ab wheel, 10 reps. During the week I went to metabolic meltdown twice, did yoga twice and three hikes. Almost back to normal!
Diet: I get 10 points for trying. I’ve added eggs back in and avocado for some healthy fats. I’ve had a bison burger, pattie only, a few bites of Luke’s steak and some chicken. I’ve stopped the granola but find I really need carbs in the morning so have a piece of sourdough bread with my eggs. Meat is still proving relatively allusive, I’d really rather not. Eggs are the closest I get on a regular basis. I’ve been trying to get as much collagen as possible using the collagen hydrolysate powder and mix it into at least one drink a day. I’ve started taking my supplements again and added a DHA supplement and think I’ve got my bases covered pretty well. One recommendation I have is: Don’t eat Thai food too close to bedtime. No bueno.
Cravings: Lemon and Poppy Seed Muffin, Hot Cocoa (weird), Thai food (not a good idea). So basically sugar, sugar, sugar.
Reading: A classic. ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’. It’s really very helpful for a great overview of what’s going on. The info on morning sickness was great and made me feel not so crappy about feeling crappy and eating crappy. Although it does say “make every mouthful count”. I definitely wasn’t doing that for a couple of weeks. I’m also wondering if it’s a good idea to read about pregnancy and put ideas in my head. Is forewarned really forearmed? Or perhaps ignorance is bliss?
Random Bits of Baby Knowledge: Lil’ Nug has had a busy week. He/she has little webbed fingers and toes, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his “tail” is just about gone. His little brain is developing neural pathways and he’s bobbing and moving around in there like crazy.
Sleep: Ok. Still up and down a bit but a couple of great night’s of sleep.
Body changes: The boobs. Still growing, still fascinating my boyfriend. Perhaps a little rounder in the tummy towards the end of the day but that could just be the amount of carbs I’ve been consuming. I’ve also had some pretty awesome gas. Yup, fun times.
Sex: Not as rampant this week. Luke is speaking and cooking at a Paleo Chef competition this week and has been super busy with that. Although sex has been amazing when we do have it. Everything feels hyper sensitive on my body, which has been kinda awesome.
(Luke just reminded me of the two-a-days that we pulled on Monday and Wednesday…so maybe it was just as rampant and my baby brain is kicking in.)
